31-07-06 Madrid Booked.

We tried to contact the Beckhams to see if they would put us up for the night, but I'm afraid to report that they have a full house on the monday as Wayne & Coleen are over for a long weekend.

So we have booked into the rap party hotel, managed to get a deal on 2 twin's at €169 for the pair.

I think that is everything booked, tunnel, Calais, Geneva, Menton, Barca, Madrid & flights back. What have we missed!!!

17-07-06 Hotels booked.

We are all booked up Hotel wise apart from Madrid.

Calais - Etap
Geneva - Etap
Menton - Etap
Barcalona - Hotel Granollers

Bit upset there isnt an Etap in Barca!!

17-07-06 She made it!

The Audi made the trip to Newquay and back in fine form, 4 up on the way there with a very full boot of camping gear. Got stuck in lots of traffic with no cooling problems, attacked many a large hill down in Newquay with no probs. Coming down hills was a little different though! think we need to attend to the warped front disks as their made the car shake a bit when its loaded up!

Coming back we were 5 up and plenty of luggage, not so much traffic on the way back, so managed to cruise very comfortably at 95 with a few down hill sections going over the 100 mark. Can't think of another car at 22 years old that would have felt so good with what we through at it this weekend.

Bring on the rally!!!!

13-07-06 To Newquay and beyond!

The Audi will be enduring a 400 or so mile drive this weekend to Newquay and back for The Delvey Stag Do, will be stacked with 4 of us and a big load of camping gear. It's a good challange for the old brut in teams of testing its reliablity...... fingers crossed now, touch wood etc etc!

11-07-06 Fixing up continues!

Sonic and I just spent our lunchtime down the scrappy getting a new rear view mirror as the old one had gone all floppy! Also looked for a new rear door handle, but they didn't have any so we fixed the old one in typical bodget fashion by drilling and bolting, works a treat!

Last night I tinted the rear windows. Need to tint the front passenger windows with a lighter tint, maybe tonight. The Audi looks even longer now with the tinted windows! Sweet.

Other little things on the list to fix are.....
  • Central looking working on rear passenger door.
  • Electric Window working on rear passenger door.
  • Get child lock switch working for rear windows.
  • Install some rear speakers, Chris Yendle from work is donating a pair, thanks Chris.
  • Get Rev counter working, only works in really hot weather at the mo!
  • Get instrument lighting working.

All little things, but bits and bobs that will make the trip that little bit easier!

03-07-06 MOT passed, yeah baby

The Audi passed its MOT today, yippee! All fine and dandy. Big big thanks to Adrian & Tony at www.verwoodmot.co.uk for doing our MOT and retest for us.

Also sorted out the insurance today, MoreThan came up top trumps with a Fully Comp policy with all 4 of us as named drivers for the grand sum of £167. Also purchased their European breakdown cover at £38. All paid monthly so we can end the policy early at the end of the rally.

Just need to get it taxed now and it can go in for the graphics that we have been working on.

01-07-06 New Windscreen, Bleedng Brakes and a darn good clean

Out with the sun and off with the shirts!!! Yuk! Spent this morning finishing off the fail list from the MOT, brakes got a final bleed, bloody nice chap from Autoglaze Windscreens came round and fitted us a new screen for £126, £26 more than the car cost, but a bit of a bargain.

We also cleaned the Audi, gave a clay barring, polish all round and PeteMate gave all the black trim a good going over, he loves it!

Also did a few modifications on the electrical side of things.... top secret!!! Pics for your pleasure below, click to see them large!
